I am drawn to painting the indigenous people of North America and am very interested in continuing to learn about the real history of our native peoples. Pretty Nose is well known for being in the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876. It was very rare for a woman to participate in battle, and it is said she became an Arapahoe war chief. She lived to be 101, spanning 1851 to 1952. It is sad to think of how much life changed for the native tribes during those years.
